Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

2010 Checklist

Things to keep oneself in check:
Sisters—that’s what they were made for even if they can be a pain some of the time.
Other Family—parents are what guide us to some destination without totally ambushing ourselves.
Segregate Family—those people who you wish you could introduce as your own blood who help support you in any way they can.
The future—sometimes I feel like the now gets me all messed up the end prize is the only one that matters.
Mirrors—if one starts to avoid a mirror, good lord help that person. LOOK YOURSELF IN THE EYE.
Michael Jordan—If he could do it, shoot, why can’t I?
Best Friends—They give the right amount of truth with just a touch of unrealistic insight to keep oneself moving forward.
And finally the most important, even though sometimes I don’t like to say that, for some odd reason.
Yahweh—My father, savior, Lord, King, and Healer. The almighty to which all glory is given. He, He is the sole reason my breath continues, my life is sustained. Without Him I would be dead and lost.
So Thank you Father for my checklist, after all you are the one who invented it.
